All E 50 AMG had the M119 V8 engine, 4 valve, 348 HP engine still used by AMG to win the DTM racing series..Winston Cup of Europe..also this is the engine used by the Sauber race cars to win Le Mans in 1984. This same engine was used in the E500, 500E series made by Porsche. This is the last vehicle of its type made at Affalterbach plant. In 1999 the M113 3 valve engine was introduced and had to be taken out to 5.5 liters to make the equal power hence AMG 5.5
